Make sure the motorcycle will fit in it. Oh!–and the washer and dryer.

January 12, 2012No,it’s not floating (there’s wood legs under there) but it might as well be.
Matt and I picked up this sweet swivel/rocket a few weeks ago. It is the most comfortable dang thing you’ve ever sat in. Too bad it’s not as comfortable on the eyes (gold tassels anyone?). No bother–I’m going to reupholster it in something awesome. Stay tuned!

After Matt polished off the biggest chicken fried steak I’ve seen in my life in Alpine TX at The Reata, we rolled in to Marfa.
The drive was mostly uneventful with the exception of about 2 hours of heavy fog and light snow. Oh, and two phone calls.
First, The McDonald Douglass Observatory called to let us know they were canceling the stars tonight due to weather and refunding our money. The second, El Cosmico, our yurt purveyor, let us know that it was getting down to 16 degrees tonight and if we wanted to cancel they would refund our deposit.
So a couple of phone calls later we are warm and sungguly at a different hotel and have dinner reservations at 8. Also, we took a little stop at the town bookstore and found out one of Matt’s former professors is staying at his house out here. We’re of to his place for cocktails.
